You’re a busy businessperson. You don’t have time to read commentary and speculation on the future of Google+ (or you can read our blog ;-)). You just want to know how to create a solid Google+ Page for your business. Because it gives your business vital local visibility. And you’re smart like that.
Let’s proceed with these easy-to-follow instructions!
Add or claim your business on Google+:
In order to add your business information to Google My Business, you’ll need to create a Google+ page.
First, you’ll navigate to Google My Business and you’ll want to search for your business using its name and address. If you for some reason don’t see your business listed in the menu, follow the prompts where it says, ‘No, these are not my businesses’. If you do find your business listed, select the business. You’ll then be prompted to enter some details for your business. Make sure that your typing skills are on point because you want it to be accurate.
Verify your business:
The verification process helps Google ensure that your business information is accurate and that only you, the business owner or manager, has authority and access to it. Dependent on the type of business that you manage, here are the following verifications that you may be presented with:
- Postcard
- Phone
- Instant verification
- Bulk verification
Regardless of how they ask you to verify the listing(s), just follow the prompts that Google gives you.
Side note: You won’t be able to update the business’s name until the verification process is complete.
PS We’ve heard from quite a few businesses that their business page is already owned by someone else. With Google Plus you can easily transfer ownership. Check out their Help page to learn more.
