All of us here at Upright would like to share with our readers a project that is close to our hearts. We’re a grateful bunch here. We enjoy life to the fullest and always try to display the attitude of gratitude as we enjoy our ongoing successes in our professional and personal lives. So when an opportunity came our way recently to donate our services to a good cause, Upright was on board!
Most of us, unfortunately, have been touched by breast cancer at some point in our lives… too many of us. Chances are, you probably know someone close to you who’s battled this disease. Money donated to various organizations including Susan G. Komen for the Cure® helps with the research to find a cure, as well as education to teach women about early detection so they can catch it as soon as possible. So Upright has joined forces to help raise funds in honor of a special lady.
In 2010, Joyce Kulage will celebrate her 25th anniversary of being a survivor. If you ever have the pleasure of meeting Joyce, you’ll soon see why she’s a survivor. She’s a fighter. Not only did she fight this disease 25 years ago, but she battled it again in 1999. And she has dedicated much of her life in recent years to helping organize the Race for the Cure in St. Louis, as well as donating her time to other various breast cancer charities and to help raise awareness. To celebrate her journey of the last 25 years, Joyce decided that she wanted to raise $25,000 for breast cancer charities including Komen. She thought it would be fun to organize 25 teams and for each of those teams to organize and participate in various events to help her reach her fund raising goal.
In honor of Joyce’s survivorship and her own selflessness, “Team Upright” was happy to extended their time and services in social networking and online marketing to help her raise these funds.
Taking on the project of a fund raiser isn’t a simple task. But we had a few ideas of how we could help maximize her exposure and gain as many donations as possible. So here’s a few highlights of our marketing plan for this fund raiser:
- Built a web site entirely in WordPress – Using WordPress for the CMS, this allows us to create easily editable pages and add some really cool widgets too for tracking things like total donations.
- The use of Insite Metrics, our proprietary metrics software, which not only facilitates the use of several forms on the site, but also aids us in determining which fund raising efforts bring the biggest returns.
- Social Networking – our experience and proven results with social media and the various channels allow us to really help Joyce make an impact online. She’ll now be able to reach hundreds and even thousands of people that would never have the opportunity to donate otherwise.
- Organizing offline events and promoting through social media to draw our vast online network out into the “real world” to join in a little fun for a good cause.
Jumping 4 Joyce is the theme of this fund raiser. You can check out the site at www.jumpin4joyce.com. Joyce already has some fund raising events planned in her hometown in St. Louis, so keep an eye out for fund raising events in your area too, including Cincinnati! (Did somebody say “Tweet-Up”?) And feel free to join a team or even start a team of your own if you’d like to be one of the 25 featured teams that are “Jumping 4 Joyce”!
We wish Joyce all the best in reaching her goal, and we’re excited to put our social networking skills to work and help raise this money for a great cause!
